Although this event is entirely free to all who wish to attend, we will still be registering people both online and on-site. This page will not only lead you to the online registration link but also answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to email trueselfcon@gmail.com if you don’t see an answer to something and we will not only reply to you but get the page updated!

Registration FAQs

If there’s no cost to enter, why are you bothering with registration?

There’s three big reasons we are doing registration for the convention despite it being free.

The first is that by registering people, we can see how much interest we have and how many people decided to attend the event. This will of course allow us to see where we are sitting numbers wise and if we need to get a larger space for the next time or stay about the same.

The second is we still have to follow fire code, so although we’d love to see hundreds of people show up, there may be a point where we have to limit the amount of people who come in. This is of course something we will be doing our best not to have to do, but as the convention is trying to be transparent on everything we are doing, it is included as a reason.

As to the final reason, by providing attendees with a wristband or badge, not only will they know other attendees but this will also allow the hotel to know who is there for the event and help them better if any questions arise.

Online registration asks for a first and last name. How does this work with my legal name if I don't use it?

Please use your legal name so we can verify it against your ID at con. However, we have a Preferred Name field for you to use and this is the name con staff will use for you during any interactions. Please note that con staff will be the only ones with access to legal names unless the need arises for any emergency purposes.

What name do I give to registration when I show up, if I have a preferred name?

Please give staff your preferred name when going by the registration table. We will use this to locate you and then, as said before, use the legal name only to check against an ID for safety purposes.

What if we have kids? What are the rules to registering this?

Please register anyone above five years of age so that we have a head-count/know they are coming.

I no longer see any incentives to donate, either on the page nor with registration; are you no longer accepting donations?

We are still accepting donations! Please visit our GoFundMe to donate, or do so at the convention! We will be keeping track of those who donate through GFM and making sure all donors receive something in thanks for their donation. We will also have a few things at the con for those who wish to donate.
